In another edition of the Screen Crusades series, host Ryan J. Downey is able to link up with a pillar of the horror community and veteran of the genre in Bill Moseley. Shying away from the term icon, Moseley was quick to explain his longevity in the realm of horror is attributed to him being a "lucky son of a bitch".
Among the talking points in the chat, Downey and Moseley get into the actor's lengthy filmography and how many fans of the genre actually saw his appearance in the second installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise before ever seeing the original - Downey being one of 'em. Moseley spoke highly of director Tobe Hooper and revealed how his own venture into filmmaking actually landed him the gig as Chop Top.
Both Downey and Moseley spoke about their recent appearances in the narrative music video for Ice Nine KIlls homage to Psycho with "The Shower Scene". Recreating some elements from the classic Hitchcock shower scene, the video features Spencer Charnas on trail for murder and includes an impressive cast consisting of the esteemed Joe Bob Briggs, Ricky Dean Logan (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare), Scout Taylor-Compton (2007’s Halloween, Halloween II), Chelsea Rebecca and of course, Mr. Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2).
The discussion surrounding Ice Nine Kills and the pair's recent shared screen time, segued into the upcoming Silver Screen Con spearheaded by Spencer Charnas and the band. With conventions being such an integral part of the horror movie culture, Charnas has been able to create an immersive world with Ice Nine Kills that bridges both the music and the cinema he loves in a way that has cultivated a thriving subculture that appreciates the intersection of the two.
Set to take place in Danvers, MA, just a few miles from the lore of Salem, the convention will feature some of the most respected names in genre along with live performances from Ice Nine Kills and their compatriots in Twiztid.
That intersection permeated throughout the conversation with Downey detailing his career in music and his unwavering love for the horror genre. As for Moseley, his resume of films speaks for itself ranging from Army of Darkness and Night of the Living Dead to the Firefly trilogy from Rob Zombie. However, Moseley shared that he has worked in music alongside some of rock's most revered names. He released music with Phil Anselmo of Pantera and was able to work with Buckethead on a project as well.
